Let P(s, p1, …, pm) =[formulla omitted] where ai= fi(p1,…, pm), i: = 0,1, …, n and fi i = 0, …, n, are continuous functions. Necessary and sufficient conditions are reformulated and proved for P(s, p1,…, pm) ≠ 0 in ReS⩾0, ∀p1,(i =1,…, m) such that [formulla omitted] where [formulla omitted] are given real numbers. More explicit necessary and sufficient conditions are derived for the special case where fi are affine multilinear functions and m = 2. © 1990 IEEE
