ON COMPARISON OF TERNARY EFFICIENCY BALANCED AND TERNARY VARIANCE-BALANCED DESIGNS

Various methods of construction of variance balanced (VB) and efficiency balanced (EB) designs have been carried out. Bhagwandas et al. (1989) have shown that there is a class of EB designs which is better than the class of VB designs with the same set of v, b, r(i), k(j) in terms of A- and D- optimality. In the present investigation we have shown that some series of ternary EB designs are better than the series of ternary VB designs with the same set of v, b, r(i), k(j) in terms of A-, D- optimality, however, there are ternary VB designs which are better than ternary EB designs in terms of E- optimality.
