摘要
Six toxicants were evaluated for their ability to inhibit bioluminescence in a recombinant Escherichia coli harboring pJE202 that contained the lux (light-producing) genes. With the recombinant E. coli the rank order for toxicity was Zn2+ > ethidium bromide > sodium pentachlorophenate > Cu2+ > 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid. The light-producting recombinant E. coli was insensitive to sodium dodecyl sulfate, and was much less sensitive than the Microtox test with the six toxicants. These results do not preclude the use of recombinant bacteria in toxicity testing.
