METHOD FOR REMOVING SURFACE POROSITY ON GLASSY-CARBON TILES

摘要
Pyrolysis of an epoxy adhesive used to bond a vitreous carbon tile to a glass substrate eliminated most surface voids and reduced the size of those remaining to submicron dimensions. This treatment was performed on mirror-finish surfaces and resulted in no degradation. The treated surfaces showed no deterioration after extended vacuum heat treatment at 1800 degree C.
