摘要
This paper have a brief description about a final paper called "MAKING LANDCOVER MAPS USING RADAR POLARIMETRY" (study case: Tabio, Chia, Cota and Tenjo), this project was proposed, since in Colombia no exist an alternative technique applied in polarimetry to do thematic maps, constituting a new research topic in remote sensing radar. This project was focused to identify the land cover as an important element in the territories management, using free software like "PolsarPro 4.2" and Radarsat 2 polarimetric images which have four polarizations. The polarimetric images are basically a type of radar image that managing different polarizations, depending on how the image was captured, you can have four polarizations if we speak of a sensor as RADARSAT 2. Currently these images are the basis for the introduction and development of new research projects. It has proposed a methodology composed of a series of qualitative and quantitative analysis of prosecutions obtained in Polsarpro4.2 as signatures, decompositions and polarimetric segmentations. In order to assess whether the end result is a valid topic map that can be used as a basic or complementary to optical satellite images.
