Many parts used in agricultural, construction, road-building, transport, mining, and other equipment are subjected to wear by the rubbing action of granular media containing hard mineral particles. Modeling of this type of wear can be done on special machines and devices using a recycled abrasive medium which loses its eroding capability due to dulling of the hard particles after multiple contacts with the specimen. This article reports on the development of a device on which control and test specimens can be subjected to wear in an abrasive medium which is continuously renewed.
