The purposes of this paper are focused on elaborating a model to design and evaluate business postgraduate programs, prioritizing the implementation of professional competences as a distinctive contribution in the context of Argentine higher education. Firstly, a deep review of the literature was done vis-a-vis the situation of the postgraduate programs in Argentina, the current link between the business and educational sectors, and the new curricular perspectives delimited by the spaces of European and Latin-American convergence of higher education. Subsequently, the investigation has been initiated as exploratory with primary data obtained from three references: the analysis of some specific postgraduate programs, the study of a certain group of Resolutions of the National Commission of Evaluation and University Accreditation (CONEAU) and the application of a questionnaire ad hoc on generic competences. Then, two confirmatory studies have been carried out: a general one linked to the current situation of the postgraduate programs achieved by conducting interviews to experts, and another specific related to the appraisal of the new curricular tendencies through the application of an instrument for such purpose. Considering the results obtained, our hypotheses are accepted and these affirm that the curricular design of postgraduate programs based on competences contributes positive to guarantee its academic quality.
