Biocompatible and biofunctional membranes by means of radiation techniques

A Signal Responsive Chemical Delivery System was proposed and the model system was studied. The essential components of the system were effectively composed of membranes such as biocompatible membrane, signal recognizable membrane for sensor and signal responsive membrane for actuator, by means of immobilization of polysacharide, enzyme and polyelectrolyte respectively, by radiation polymerization and crosslinking. Micro-pore membrane for drug reservoir was prepared using laser irradiation and photo-lithography etching. A compact model system consisting of polyethyleneterephthalate film and of silicone chip proved the substrate and pH responsive releases of model drug clearly.
