摘要
JHK photometry of the X-ray variable A0538 - 66 at various stages in its recurrent outbursts reveals an infrared continuum not directly predicted by existing models. The continuum could arise in gaseous processes or from a partially-obscured accretion disc. A test of the alternatives is proposed. © 1984 Royal Astronomical Society.
