THE EFFECT OF CA SUBSTITUTION IN YBA2CU3O7-DELTA - A Y-89 NMR-STUDY

Extensive Y-89 NMR measurements have been carried out on Y1-xCaxBa2Cu3O7-delta for two groups of samples, one fully and one partially oxygenated. The temperature dependence of the Knight shift shows that the fully oxygenated samples are overdoped while the partially oxygenated samples are underdoped. The MAS linewidth of the fully oxygenated samples is strongly temperature dependent whereas for the partially oxygenated samples only small changes in linewidth with temperature are observed. The temperature dependence of the ratio of the linewidth to the Knight shift (but not its absolute value) is, however, similar for all samples. A possible explanation for this is that the antiferromagnetic spin correlation length has a similar temperature dependence in these systems independent of doping and of susceptibility.
