THE VARIABILITY OF THE BM ANDROMEDAE LINEAR-POLARIZATION

The results of the simultaneous photoelectric and electropolarimetric BVR observations of BM And - the member of the YY Ori subgroup of T Tau-type variable stars - are given. The evident correlation between the star's brightness and its linear polarization values is found. The contribution of polarized light is increasing as the BM And luminosity is decreasing. The changes of the lambda-dependence of the linear polarization degree takes place and the Rayleigh scattering seems to be predominating. To explain the BM And observational features, the alternative possibilities are discussed: the eclipses by inhomogeneities in a circumstellar envelope and the eclipses in a close binary system. At present the latter supposition seems to be more preferred.
