摘要:
It is important that counselors understand the socio-cultural dimensions of social adaptation among immigrant students. While many psychological theories could provide suitable frameworks for examining these, in this article, I argue that symbolic interactionism could provide an additional valuable framework for (a) exploring the intersections of cultural script, construction of meaning, role identities, and the social adaptation of new immigrant students; and (b) conceptualizing potential school counseling support interventions.
