This column will examine the intersection of the two biggest trends in computing today: the cloud and big data. The industry hype around the cloud and big data has resulted in nebulous definitions for each. The author starts by providing definitions for each from the consumer and producer perspectives and looking at how and where these technologies are converging. © 2014 IEEE.
