RITUALS AND RESCISSION - BUILDING COMMUNITY IN HARD TIMES

This article reports the findings of a naturalistic inquiry study of rituals. The findings include how these events build community, establish consensus and meaning, expound the value of achievement and leadership, and build expectations concerning service. The findings are examined in light of the current financial crisis in higher education.
