摘要
O2 yield was maximum on the 3rd flash and periodicity 4 is still retained. The spacing between flashes is 10 s. The observations do not agree with the hypothesis of Kok et al. (1974) that O2 is an exclusive oxidant of the S (stable) states. The system seems to be subject to kinetic loses. It is felt that the high value of Y2 (2nd flash) is due to an oxidizing effect of benzoquinone and/or .**GRAPHIC**. The redox state of photosystem II will be a result of kinetic competition between the reductants, oxidants and presumably the S states. Theoretical implications and alternatives are discussed.
