摘要
We aimed at identifying and analyzing how YAE students in the city of Barra do Garcas, state of Mato Grosso, understand Physical Education as a discipline in their teaching and learning process. The study is the result of the direct survey with a qualitative approach that was supported by the analysis of bibliographic sources, documents and questionnaires applied to forty students. Despite the legitimizations that rule the optionality of Physical Education at night schools, the surveyed group reported affinity for this discipline, regularly attending the classes, assigning it values that associate it to health improvement and not the sports, as demonstrated by studies of the area. However, when describing the important content to be learned in Physical Education classes, sports and health, they assume similar meanings.
