摘要
Osteoporosis is not an invented disease, but a growing health problem globally. The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified osteoporosis as one of the top 10 common diseases. In Europe, every third female and every fifth male is affected with the consequences of long-lasting pain, physical impairment or even social isolation and dependency. Today, osteoporosis is classified as an early diagnosable and treatable disease. Nevertheless, it is still an underestimated, under-diagnosed and under-therapized disease. Above all, self-responsibility regarding osteopathy is characterized by too little awareness in the society and even among physicians, and requires patience in educational work. A standardized and evidence-based management has now been developed worldwide and was also formulated in Germany by the Federation of Osteology (DVO). The practical and interdisciplinary implementation of the guidelines is currently the task ahead.
