X-RAY-IRRADIATION EFFECTS IN BI-PB-SR-CA-CU-O SUPERCONDUCTORS

摘要
X-ray irradiation at room temperature results in degradation of superconducting properties of the Bi3Pb1Sr3Ca3Cu4O(y) superconductor. Annealing the irradiated sample in air,however,showed improvement in the superconducting properties, particularly the current density becoming better than the orginal value. These observations suggest that X-ray irradiation followed by annealing in air may prove to be an effective method to control the superconducting characteristics of these superconductors. Possible mechanisms bringing about the observed changes are discussed.
