TOTAL INTRA VENOUS ANESTHESIA OF THE COMBINATION XYLAZINE, KETAMINE AND FENTANYL FOR CANNULATION OF THE FIRST COMPARTMENT IN ALPACAS

摘要
In order to evaluate clinical response subjected to a protocol alpacas total intravenous anesthesia based upon a combination of xylazine, ketamine and fentanyl, for cannulation of the first compartment in alpacas, physiological variables, anesthesiologic, anesthetic monitoring were determined. Five male adult alpacas were used clinically healthy to which 0.2 mg/kg xylazine was administered 5 mg / kg of ketamine in repeated boluses and 0.5 mg/kg/hrfentanyl constant rate infusion. The monitoring and anesthetic variables were measured every 5 and 10 min. The means and standard deviations for heart rate were 55.74 +/- 5.57 beats / min, respiratory rate of 10.31 +/- 0.91 cycles/min, pulse rate 60.00 +/- 5.22 beats / min and oxygen saturation of 91.47 +/- 5.63%, with variations throughout anesthetic time. Systolic blood pressure, diastolic and mean were 146.40 +/- 14.86, 85.70 +/- 6.90 and 108.50 +/- 7.53 mm Hg respectively. The induction time was 55.0 +/- 8.7 s, the latency time 79.0 +/- 4.2 min and the recovery time 11.0 +/- 4.0 min. Alpacas were in a plane surface surgical anesthetic with decreased motor responses, cardiovascular and respiratory dose dependent, muscle tone was moderate and permanent eyelash reflex. The anesthetic protocol response was moderate and acceptable analgesia.
