ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING FOR HIDROGRAPHICS BASINS: CONVERGENCES AND CHALLENGES IN CAPIBARIBE RIVER BASIN, IN PERNAMBUCO-BRAZIL

This research aimed to study the implementation of public policies in the management of water resources in the state of Pernambuco, specifically in the Capibaribe Hydrographic Basin, and also assess whether they contribute to the sustainability of the basin. For this, it was used the qualitative method and case study methodology, helped by the use of the techniques of bibliographic and documental research. The results showed that the integration of environmental planning with water management in Pernambuco needs a more committed performance of the State, as well as an increased participation of organized civil society. Although there is moderate progress, promotion of water sustainability is still under construction.
