UP-CONVERSION AND CROSS-RELAXATION IN TB-3+LIYF4

摘要
Efficient cross-relaxation occurs in 1% Tb3+:LiYF4 between the 5D3 --> 5D4 and F-7(1) <-- F-7(6) transitions following ultraviolet excitation. When the 5D4 state is directly pumped, anti-Stokes fluorescence from the higher 5D3 state is observed and attributed to energy transfer up-conversion. The Inokuti-Hirayama model is modified to analyze the up-conversion process and cross relaxation in this system.
