Aseptic loosening of the glenoid prosthetic component is a prominent cause of failure of total shoulder arthroplasties (TSAs). Loose glenoid components and the macrophagedriven osteolysis that is associated with polyethylene wear debris may lead to destruction of the limited glenoid bone volume, making revision of the failed glenoid very challenging. As the number of TSAs performed worldwide increases, it is likely that the incidence of revision TSAs with concomitant substantial glenoid bone loss requiring reconstruction and bone grafting will also rise. Techniques to address glenoid bone loss with bone grafting during revision TSA and the reported clinical results are the focus of this review.
