Tales of War: Childhood Memories of Elderly People

This article is devoted to childhood memories of the war as recorded in the 2000s. It considers peculiarities of children's memory, and mechanisms for actualization of memories of various events of wartime. It is noted that the memory of the war still remains one of the few sources for the national pride of the modern Russian society. At the same time, rehabilitation of multiple private memories results in erosion of the official version and calls persistently for their reconciliation. Meanwhile memory is no longer viewed by the researcher as a. passive storage of recorded information. but is connected with figural reconstruction of images from the past. Despite a number of peculiarities in children's memories, they are going to become the touchstone to clear up the peculiarities of forming the memory of the Great Patriotic War, its dynamics and present-day condition.
