EVIDENCE FOR A BOUND-STATE IN PPBAR SYSTEM

Two characteristics of proton-antiproton scattering rho(s) = = ReF(ppBAR)/ImF(ppBAR) and sigma-tot (s) are considered. Theoretical consideration is based on the analytical properties of the forward-scattering amplitude F(ppBAR)(s). Experimental data on rho and sigma-tot at p(L) less-than-or-equal-to 1 GeV/c have been analyzed, and a satisfactory description of rho and sigma-tot has been achieved only when a quasi-nuclear state is assumed to exist in a ppBAR system. The mass of this state is close to 2m, where m is the proton mass.
