摘要
The influence of the secondary phase (a grain boundary phase or a second phase) present in Si3N4-based ceramics on the chemical interaction with steel was investigated by means of static interaction couple experiments at high temperatures. The thickness of the interaction zone on the ceramic side of the ceramic-steel couple was used to quantify the reactivity between the ceramic and the steel. The results show that as the amount of secondary phase in the ceramic increases, the interaction zone thickness on the ceramic side increases leading to a deeper penetration of the steel into the ceramic.
