摘要
A bacterial strain isolated from the Gujarat oil field produced a biosurfactant (2.6 g/l) when grown on n-hexadecane. It was composed of 30% lipid and 25% protein. Carbohydrate was not detected in the polymer. Fatty acid profile revealed the presence of both saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. Surface tension of the culture broth was reduced to 29 dynes/cm as a result of biosurfactant formation. The organism was identified as Serratia marcescens.
