The one fluid model together with the hard sphere equation of state due to Guggenheim was used to calculate the solubility of argon, xenon, krypton, nitrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon tetrafluoride, sulphur hexafluoride, methane, ethane and propane in various alkanes (C5-C30) at a partial pressure of 1 atm and typically between 280 and 350 K. The agreement between theory and experiment is generally quite good. The xi values obtained from the analysis reflect the strength of intermolecular interaction between unlike molecules.
