The purpose of this study was to investigate the career expectations of students majoring in jazz at tertiary institutions in South Africa. The researchers specifically sought to determine students' expectations for performance style and income and their career plans upon graduation. The study is among the first national studies to focus on jazz majors at all tertiary institutions in South Africa.
