This article outlines briefly the subject matter of the American, Black Belt" Magazine which is addressed to fans of martial arts. This periodical is a special interest magazine designed for a specific segment of the market. The article is a simple description and contains three parts: characteristics of special interest media designed for individuals interested in martial arts; the history and circumstances in which "Black Belt" was launched; and the classification of the magazine's subject matter based on four major subject components: theoretical issues, practical issues, creating heroes and idols, and advertizing.
