MAMMALIAN BRAIN PLASMA-MEMBRANES - ISOLATION, ENZYMATIC, AND CHEMICAL CHARACTERIZATION

摘要
Two variants of a simplified procedure for the isolation of plasma membrane fractions from monkey and rat brains were described. The preparations showed marked enrichments in the marker enzymes, (Na+-K+) ATPase, acetylcholinesterase, 5''-nucleotidase and adenylate cyclase. Lipid analysis and a protein electrophoretic pattern were presented. An enzymatic check was made to assess for contamination by other cellular organelles. The amino acid composition of brain membrane proteins showed a resemblance to the reported composition of erythrocyte ghost proteins but differ from myelin proteins.
