Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has become a readily available modality to augment musculoskeletal tissue healing. Despite the growing popularity of PRP to assist with the treatment of soft tissue disorders, the full benefit of PRP to assist with tissue healing in the musculoskeletal system has not been fully explored to assist with one of the most common, basic conditions encountered by the vast majority of musculoskeletal surgeons, that is, fracture healing. This paper reviews the basic science of PRP and describes the percutaneous technique of PRP delivery to treat fractures.
