摘要
In 2016, an assemblage of Pantikapaion silver coins dating to ca. 475-450 BC was uncovered in man's burial No. 168 in the necropolis of the settlement of Volna 1. It contained a hemiobol and six diobols. The assemblage contained two types of coins: 1) lion head facing / incuse divided into four regular squares; pellet in two opposite quarters (SNG Stanc. 514-515); 2) lion head facing / incuse with swastika; four-rayed star in two opposite quarters (SNG Stanc. 518-519). The coins place this grave within c. 460-450 BC. Presently it is the earliest grave "hoard" in the Bosporan funerary practice. The find provides evidence for the nature of the Bosporan money market in the 5th century BC where small and smallest denominations of the local silver predominated.
