CERTAIN ASPECTS OF THE REACTION-MECHANISM IN THE LOW-TEMPERATURE LIQUID-PHASE OXIDATION OF HEXAFLUOROPROPYLENE BY MOLECULAR-OXYGEN

摘要
A study has been made of the influence of hexafluoropropylene and oxygen concentrations, and also the rate of initiation of initial reaction centers (gamma-radiation dose rate) on the ratio of the rate of hexafluoropropylene consumption to the rates of formation of hexafluoropropylene oxide, trifluoroacetyl fluoride, carbonyl fluoride, and perfluoropolyetherpolyperoxide molecules. It has been shown that the reaction responsible for the formation of low-molecular-weight acid fluorides and for chain transfer is the nonbreaking interaction of peroxide radicals; the reaction responsible for the formation of hexafluoropropylene oxide is the fragmentation of alkyl radicals having an ether unit in the beta-position.
