摘要：

The legal and administrative framework designed to protect workers from occupational illness and industrial injury in the People's Republic of China is outlined. Some statistical data are presented, the inspection system is outlined, and the workplace exposure standards applied are listed. The role of the trade unions and the difficulties under which they operate are briefly described. The final section deals with the contribution of the ILO to the dissemination of ideas about how to improve the working conditions in Chinese factories, mines and other places of work.
