Aerodynamic interference factors (defined in the main text) have been determined for microwave dishes attached to a lattice tower or mast, from wind-tunnel measurements. The values obtained vary considerably with wind direction and values greater than unity were obtained for some wind directions for which there was no overlap between tower and dish. An existing empirical formula for interference factor generally underestimates the measured values, and does not reproduce the large variation with wind direction obtained from the measurements. A modification to this empirical formula, which fits the experimental data for a single dish antenna, has been proposed.
