摘要：

The report discusses the various categories of cutting tool materials currently available. Covered are ceramics, cermets, Sialon (consisting basically of silicon nitride and aluminum oxide which are cold pressed and then sintered), diamond, cubic boron nitride, titanium carbide, and coated tungsten carbide. Future prospects in this field are outlined.
