摘要
The computation of the scattering properties of a spheroidally shaped particle requires that every effort be made to minimize the accumulation of numerical error in order to ensure that the results are accurate. This study presents a method of solving the problem and a set of criteria by which the accuracy of the solutions can be judged. It includes a concise presentation of the formulation of the problem, the expressions for the components in this formulation and their methods of computation, the techniques used to solve the basic set of equations, and the formulas by which the solution can be used to compute the quantities of experimental interest, for example, cross sections. A few examples will be given to demonstrate the utility of this approach.
