摘要
In the first decade of the twenty-first century the construction boom in Spain enhanced strong economic growth. The majority of property investments resulted from second homes in coastal areas, especially along the Mediterranean coast, where sun-and-sand tourism already had a relatively long tradition. This development changed the demographic structures of these areas having high levels of immigrants who had found access to the labor market opportunities there. However, the dynamics of some areas of the Spanish Atlantic coast differ a lot from those of the Mediterranean. The Costa da Morte (Coast of Death), a coastal region of remarkable beauty, suffers from demographic regression tending to become worse due to its ageing population.
