摘要
A novel technique incorporating a laser scanner and diffraction pattern detection is developed for tracing a moving wire and gauging its diameter. The angular position of the wire under inspection is determined by the laser scanner. The gauged diameter of the wire is independent of the distance between the system and the target. The technique is particularly adequate for dynamic inspection of wires drifting within a wide spatial range.
