BENIGN INTRACRANIAL HYPERTENSION IN AN ADULT AFTER TETRACYCLINE THERAPY

Severe headache, blurring of vision, and papilledema, developed in a 24-year-old man after 3 days of treatment with tetracycline. These symptoms subsided promptly when the drug was discontinued. This is the first reported case of benign intracranial hypertension following tetracycline therapy in an adult. The patient also demonstrated clinical hypersensitivity to tetracycline, but an allergic cause of the increased intracranial pressure remains uncertain.
