摘要
Background Carcinosarcoma (malignant mixed mullerian tumour) is a rare malignancy of the female genital tract and rarer to arise from the fallopian tube. Approximately 60 cases are reported in world literature so far. Carcinosarcoma with the sarcoma component only in the metastatic deposit is highly uncommon. Case A postmenopausal woman presented with abdominal distension and pain. On evaluation, CA-125 was raised and imaging revealed a solid right adnexal lesion with ascites. At laparotomy, ascites with a tumour arising from the left fallopian tube, a large omental nodule, and multiple deposits in the peritoneum were noted. The histopathology was high-grade serous adenocarcinoma fallopian tube with foci of serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma. However, the large omental nodule showed carcinosarcoma. Patient received six cycles of adjuvant chemotherapy (epirubicin, paclitaxel, and carboplatin). On follow-up after 18 months after last cycle of chemotherapy, there is no evidence of recurrence giving an overall survival of 24 months from the date of diagnosis.
