摘要
With the help of the CAO method a plate with a shape-optimized circular hole has been developed. Its surface stresses have been drastically reduced by attaching material at places of high local stresses and reducing material at locations of low local stresses. Fatigue tests have been performed under tensile and bending loads (to ensure the prolongation of the crack initiation phase). The tests showed that the fatigue life of the shape-optimized specimen could be extended by a factor of at least 3 for tensile loading and at least 25 for bending loading compared to the non-optimized specimen type. This result validates the method used (as an effective method of structural shape optimization).
