摘要
Neutron diffraction has been used to measure uniquely the through-thickness profile of the average triaxial strain in each phase of an Al/SiCp metal-matrix composite plate which had been quenched after a solution treatment at 505 degrees C. The data have been interpreted by modelling the measured strains in terms of three contributions: a long-range residual macrostrain held, an elastic mismatch strain; and a thermal mismatch strain. These strains and the associated stresses are described and discussed.
