摘要：
Object-oriented programming offers an alternative to the procedural programming techniques that previously dominated the database development realm. This programming model represents a fundamentally different approach. Given the increasing acceptance and popularity of object-oriented development environments, it is important for those who develop applications within the library to be familiar with this technology. This article provides a basic introduction to the object-oriented programming paradigm, illustrating the concepts with a simple application relevant to the library environment.
