摘要：

The forest products industry is beginning to face a critical problem in disposing of woody, organic wastes. Alternatives to current landfilling practices need to be examined. Solid state biological treatment (composting) could be used to reduce the volume and mass of the wood wastes while creating a more stable material for horticultural and agricultural applications. This paper reports on two municipal yard waste composting facilities (processes, product characteristics, and product utilization) and provides information to the forest products industry on composting solid wastes.
