摘要
It is clear that the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders fourth edition (DSM-IV) will become one of the most frequently used reference documents in the counseling profession. It is the purpose of this article to describe the progress being made in the development of the DSM-IV, which is scheduled for publication in 1994. The revision process as well as proposed organizational changes and new diagnostic categories are described. In addition, the implications of the DSM-IV for counselor practice are described.
