Primary small cell tumor of the trachea is uncommon. Extrapulmonary small cell carcinoma should be considered a distinct condition from metastatic small cell carcinoma of the lung. We present the case of a patient with extrapulmonary small cell tumor involving the trachea responding to conventional chemotherapy and radiotherapy along with urgent tracheal stent placement. Included is a relevant review of the literature on the management of small cell tumor of the trachea.
