Two models of the adsorption of ionic surfactants on the charged interface between a solid and an electrolyte solution were studied. One model suggests the possibility of simultaneous monolayer adsorption on two types of active sites (charged and uncharged) differing by the surface concentration and the energy of adsorption. According to the second (two-layer) model, it is assumed that, along with adsorption of surface-active ions on the charged sites, adsorption of these ions proceeds on the previously adsorbed ions. Both models make it possible to account for the reversal of the surface charge during adsorption of ionic surfactants.
