摘要
The degradation of titanium anodes coated with mixed ruthenium and titanium oxide, in strongly acidified medium (1M H2SO4) has been followed using scanning electron microscopy. The corrosion mechanism appears to be based upon the propagation of cracks initialy present in the electrode coating which progress from the surface of the coating to the titanium substrate. The propagation of the cracks is caused by the dissolution of the oxide coating at the bottom of the cracks where increased acidification of the solution, due to the electrolysis, takes place.
