INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS AND THE UNITED-STATES P/M INDUSTRY

Procedures established by the European Community for the development of standards covering P/M materials and test methods are reviewed. This is followed by a brief history of North American participation in the International Standards Organization (ISO) and current procedural issues. Finally, the likely impact of ISO specifications on the P/M parts industry in the USA is assessed with particular reference to large multinational customers. Guidelines on how to meet the new international standards are presented.
